Liver Transplants??

OK, so the doctor has just told you that either you or one of your family members need a liver transplant. The first step is to remain totally calm, during this process you need to keep your cool in order for things to go smoothly. My little sister had to get a transplant when she was only 2 weeks old and I will be frank with you, it's not an easy part of life to have to go through, but my family got through it and so will yours. My little sister was in the surgery room for 14 hours and recovery took some time. There are lots of medicine one you may need to know is prograf. It helps the liver function better and not reject.Since I brought up rejection I'm going to tell you about it. Rejection is when the liver (it could be any organ but in this case it's the liver) does not function correctly or hasn't gotten used to it's environment, so when rejection happens it's the livers way of telling you that it hasn't gotten used to it's environment. When that happens the doctors will probably increase the dose of prograf if that doesn't work they might have to do a second transplant. If the doctors tell you there needs to be a second transplant don't just say yes right away. Take your time. That happened to my sister and the doctor said: "A second transplant is like two glued pieces of paper and you need to separate them without ripping either one."Really think about it. Get second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, or even seventh opinion on what to do. Consult with different doctors in different places. Come back soon for another blog on Medicine and more!
